Arsyeny Roadhouse is Elena’s son and the inspiration for Eleusis. In 2008, surrounded by her husband and midwives, she welcomed Arsyeny into the world. As Elena looked down at her beautiful son lying on her chest, she sensed that he was uncomfortable and something wasn’t right.
In his first year of life Arsyeny suffered a variety of skin, sinus, and ear conditions that no doctors could explain. With no signs of teeth forming, Elena was able to narrow Arsyeny’s symptoms down to a rare genetic condition called Ectodermal Dysplasia.
Elena sought help from the leading researcher of Ectodermal Dysplasia who confirmed her suspicions. He also explained that due to Arsyeny's condition, he would not have functioning sweat glands or a strong immune system, would be allergy prone, and eczema would be a part of his daily life.
Unwilling to accept the stamp of this diagnosis and its effects on Arsyeny, Elena made the life-changing decision to leave her legal career behind and pursue the path of holistic health and functional medicine.
