Where did the name Eleusis come from?

Eleusis is a place in Ancient Greece, a town where only females were permitted.  As a female-owned company, this imagery was impactful.  Additionally, it’s a combination of the words ‘element’ and ‘genesis’.  We associate it with new beginnings.

Can I find your products in stores? 

Not at the moment.   Our main priority is to maintain products’ freshness.  Since our ingredients are all-natural and exclude stabilizers, we ship directly to our customers.

Do I have to purchase an Essentials Subscription or can I just buy a la carte?

The Essentials Subscription is the easiest way to detoxify, restore and nourish your home and enhance your life. We do recommend a subscription as your first step in taking care of your health and environment by replacing conventional cleaning products with safe, pure and hypoallergenic home care products.

We do offer a few a la carte options in our shop, in case you want to start slow.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return policy? 

Returns can be requested up to 30 days from the purchase date. To request a return form, please email us at  hello@eleusisway.com. 

My bottle is broken. How do I get a new one? 

Please reach out to us at hello@eleusisway.com and we’d be happy to replace a bottle, sprayer tops, or pumps for free if you are an active subscriber, in all other cases we can make bottles available for purchase. 

Product Usage

What is the shelf life of Eleusis concentrates? 

Our products can be stored up to a year, if stored in a dark place. Settling at the bottom is normal and is due to the lack of emulsifiers.

How effective is it at cleaning? 

Products don’t have to be toxic to get your home sparkling. Our cleaners are made with non-toxic and biodegradable ingredients, they are tested to be sure they clean just as well as conventional products.

Are Eleusis products pet-friendly? 

Yes, all of our products are safe for use around your furry friends. 

Do I need to clean my bottles? If so, what is the best method of doing so? 

Rinse with warm water between refills

Does the dish soap produce suds?

Yes, it does!

Do you use palm oil in your products? 

Never.

Are your ingredients safe for people with nut allergies? 

Yes, there are no nut-based ingredients in our formulas. 

What makes Eleusis safer than traditional household cleaners? 

Did you know an average home has as much as 100 pounds of environmentally harmful products in the storage areas?

The products we use to clean our homes and bodies are usually the greatest source of toxic chemicals in the home. They include oven and window cleaners, floor polish, toilet bowl cleaners, grease removers.

Petrochemicals in these products cause harm to you and your loved ones if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through the skin.

Commercial cleaners put your long term health at risk, pollute environment and are no more effective than their non-toxic counter parts.

Eleusis will help to identify and eliminate toxic cleaners, cosmetics, and body care products from your home and offer effective natural substitutions.

Eleusis products do not contain:

• Parabens

• Phthalates

Eleusis products do contain:

• Glycerine: naturally occurring alcohol compound from vegetable lipids

• Alkyl-Polyglycoside: biodegradable non-ionic surfactant + plant derived

• Citric acid: found in citrus fruits and all living organisms with very low toxicity

• Ethyl alcohol: volatile solvent derived from corn

• Oleic acid: naturally occurring fatty acid

• Sodium chloride: neutral salt

• Citric Sinensis: citrus peel/rind

Are Eleusis products vegan? 

Yes, all Eleusis products are free of animal byproducts. 

Are your products hypoallergenic?

Yes, we have long term customers with skin conditions who find great relief using our products. We have also partnered up with Allergycertified an international allergy label to make sure our products are skin friendly.

Why is everything fragrance free?

Our cleaning products contain zero perfumes in order to prevent skin allergy and keep our products truly hypoallergenic. Chemical ingredients such as fragrance, petrochemicals, formaldehyde and methylisothiazolinone and ppd are common causes of contact dermatitis.

Why aren’t you certified organic?

Our line of cleaning products is certified according to EcoGarantie®, the worldwide strictest criteria of quality, safety and sustainability.

Providing full transparency to consumers, EcoGarantie labeled products are controlled by the independent European certification agency Certisys, an accredited certifying agent. Inspectors regularly visit production sites to ensure we meet and exceed the highest environmental and quality standards.

Basic Criteria of EcoGarantie® EcoGarantie®

• Plant and animal products originating from organic farming.

• Minerals are carefully selected.

• Chemically synthesized ingredients and petrochemical ingredients are banned.

• No use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO).

• Minimal impact on the environment and humans, demanding perfect biodegradability, no toxicity for aquatic organisms, and no bioaccumulation of toxins in the human body.

• No testing of end products on animals.

• Ecologically sound production methods, i.e. no irradiation of products for disinfection, use of green energy, and reduction of CO2 emission.

Subscriptions

How does the Subscription work? 

Our subscription is the easiest way to detoxify, restore and nourish your home while taking care of our environment. Eleusis clean home care products are delivered right to your doorstep, every other month. Your first box will include a set of glass bottles and refills and subsequent months will contain only refill pouches. Refills will be sent out on the day of your subscription.

How frequently will I receive my refills? 

Every other month.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your subscription can be canceled at any time. Simply log into your account.

Environmental Impact

Can I recycle my refill pouches? 

Our refill pouches are manufactured in Sweden and meet a strict criteria for recycling. To reduce the recycling footprint of our refill pouches we use a dissolvable in water label. Simply wash the label off before placing a pouch into the recycling bin.

Why do you use foam in your packaging? 

Black colored PE foam in your box is 100% recycled foam and is fully recyclable. When we were choosing our packaging materials we discovered that over the lifetime of the packaging, paper and cardboard embody far more greenhouse gases than their plastic equivalents. The foam durability also reduces the carbon footprint because it is hard to damage; it helps to prevent breakage and avoid extra shipments.

Shouldn’t my subscription box be more colorful?

We have purposefully left your box as plain as possible. Too much colored ink, foil, glitter make cardboard a non-recyclable item. Inks are contaminants and need to be removed in the paper pulping process.

Are Eleusis formulas biodegradable? 

Yes, because we are fully natural and don’t use toxic chemicals. 

Why do you use glass bottles instead of plastic? 

Our reusable glass bottles can be used over and over again. Unlike plastic and aluminum, they do not leach toxins into the product, your home, or the environment.
